Jimmy O’ Halloran is a beef finisher who farms near Cappa, Six Mile Bridge, Co Clare.
He had his research done before he invested in an Osmonds Cattle Weighing Scales. After looking at 6 other scales at the Ploughing Championships in September he decided Osmonds Cattle Scales was most suited to his requirements.
“It has a wider standing area than the other options I looked at and my bulls stand without stress and it’s so easy to weigh them. The stainless steel large digital monitor is more robust than many others and the plate to hold the clock onto the crush is a dream”.
He invested in the scales for three reasons –
- Weigh animals when they arrive on farm so he knows what weight he is starting with.
- Weigh cattle every couple of weeks to monitor feed efficiency and performance.
- Weigh cattle before they go to the factory so as to be able to measure their KO%. “This helps me to pick the best type of bulls to buy and also see how well the diet worked”.
“I’d be happy to recommend their Cattle Weighing Scales to anyone” concludes Jimmy.
